Hyphae Mentoring Program: Code of Conduct

The Hyphae Mentoring Program exists to create safe, respectful, and growth-focused relationships between mentors and mentees.

By joining the program, you agree to uphold the following principles throughout your participation.

1. Respect & Professionalism

  • Treat your mentoring partner with courtesy, kindness, and respect at all times.

  • Honour differences in culture, background, identity, and lived experience.

  • Be open to perspectives that may differ from your own.

2. Confidentiality

  • Keep all personal and professional information shared in your mentoring conversations private, unless you have explicit permission to share.

  • Respect intellectual property — do not share your mentoring partner’s work, ideas, or materials without consent.

3. Commitment

  • Honour the agreed meeting schedule and give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule.

  • Be prepared for meetings — bring your questions, reflections, or updates.

  • Respond to communication from your mentoring partner within a reasonable timeframe (ideally 3–5 business days).

4. Boundaries

  • Keep the mentoring relationship focused on agreed goals and development needs.

  • Do not use the mentoring space to sell services, seek personal favours, or request employment.

  • Maintain professional boundaries while being open, approachable, and authentic.

5. Safety & Inclusion

  • Create a culturally safe and inclusive environment.

  • Avoid language or behaviour that could be perceived as discriminatory, harassing, or offensive.

  • If you feel unsafe or experience a breach of this Code of Conduct, notify the Hyphae Program Lead promptly.

6. Program Engagement

  • Respond to all program surveys, milestone check-ins, or feedback requests — these help us track progress and improve the program.

  • If the timing or method of feedback doesn’t work for you, let us know so we can arrange an alternative.

  • Actively participate in reflection activities or goal reviews where relevant.

7. Mini Courses & Learning Resources

  • Mini courses are not compulsory, but they are designed to support your mentoring journey.

  • You will have access to these resources for 12 months from the start of your program.

  • Your mentor will be informed that these resources are available to you and you are welcome to discuss them together.

  • You are encouraged to complete or attend these at your own pace during your time in the program.

8. Ending the Mentoring Relationship

  • If you feel the mentoring match is not working, speak with the Hyphae Program Lead so we can help find a better fit.

  • End the relationship respectfully, ensuring you acknowledge and appreciate your mentoring partner’s time and contribution.

Acknowledgement
